The four statuses at a glance
- Paying — the program is currently making payments to investors and monitors.
- Waiting — the program has been registered but has not completed its first payment cycle yet.
- Problem — payments are delayed, the site is unstable, or support is not responding. The program may recover or may be about to stop.
- Not Paying — the program has stopped paying. This is the final stage for a failed HYIP.
You will also see Unknown on programs we have not been able to check recently — treat it like Waiting, but with extra caution.
What "Paying" really means
Paying only means the program has paid recent interest. It does not mean the program is safe, legitimate, or profitable long-term. Many programs pay perfectly for weeks and then collapse. A "Paying" status is the minimum bar for considering a program — not a green light to invest large amounts.
What "Waiting" means
When a monitor first lists a program, it has no payment history yet, so it is marked Waiting. This period usually lasts until the first full payment cycle completes. A program stuck in Waiting for a long time, or that repeatedly resets it, is a warning sign rather than a neutral one.
What "Problem" means
Problem is the warning zone. It appears when payments are delayed, the site is unstable, or the program has stopped responding. Some programs recover from Problem and return to Paying; most do not. A Problem status across several monitors at once is one of the strongest signals of an imminent collapse.
What "Not Paying" means
Not Paying means the program has stopped making payments. In most cases this is permanent — the program is a dead ponzi. Occasionally a program returns to Paying after a period of Not Paying, but treat that as the exception, not the rule.
How to read the status row correctly
Statuses are snapshots, not verdicts. When you check a program on Investors Protect, look at:
- The current status and how many monitors report it.
- The last updated time — a stale status is less useful than a fresh one.
- The history across monitors — a program that has flipped between Paying and Problem repeatedly is riskier than a stable one.
- The deposit count and ratings for extra context.
Statuses and monitor counts together
A single monitor can be wrong, outdated, or offline. That is why statuses are strongest when several monitors agree. A program marked Paying by 8 monitors is far more trustworthy than one marked Paying by a single monitor. The Top by Monitors page shows the most widely tracked programs.
